Dr Nicholas Andrew

Dr Nick Andrew is an Australian ophthalmologist with subspecialist training in state-of-the-art cataract surgery, minimally-invasive glaucoma surgery (MIGS) and traditional glaucoma surgery.

He is the only ophthalmologist in the Asia-Pacific region to have undertaken the Toronto Glaucoma and Advanced Anterior Segment Surgery (GAASS) Fellowship. This is a highly prestigious fellowship run by the inimitable Dr Ike Ahmed, who is an international leader in eye surgery and pioneer of MIGS.

In addition, Dr Andrew did a fellowship with Prof Tony Wells in Wellington, New Zealand. Dr Andrew has experience with every MIGS procedure available in Australia, as well as others that are not yet commercially available anywhere in the world. His management approach prioritises individualised treatment tailored to the specific circumstances of the patient.

Dr Andrew treats all conditions of the ageing eye. His scope includes glaucoma, cataract, pterygium, medical retina and macular disease, as well as advanced anterior segment surgeries such as lens exchanges, repositioning of dislocated lenses, and repair of iris injuries (with iris suturing or iris prostheses).

Dr Andrew is delighted to be joining Frank Howes and his team at Eye and Laser Centre Gold Coast.
